On April 21st, the General Administration of Customs released information on food that was not allowed to enter China in March 2022. 223 batches of food and 1 batch of cosmetics were found to be unqualified in safety and hygiene items and not allowed to enter China.
According to the statistics, those not allowed entry food are from Argentina, Ireland, Australia, Pakistan, Brazil, Belgium, Germany, Russia, Ecuador, France, Faroe Islands, Philippines, South Korea, Ghana, Czech Republic, Malaysia, United States, Mongolia, Mexico, Norway, Portugal, Japan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, etc. Among them, Portugal had largest quantity of rejected foods that of 24 batches, including three products which are frozen pig hexamedad bone-in front segment, frozen pig hexamedad bone-in back segment and frozen pig hexamedad bone-in middle segment.
Statistics found that the reasons of unqualified food not allowed entry have problems such of using food additives, nutrition enhancer, microbial pollution, unqualified packaging labels, Goods/Certificates discrepancy, failure to provide the certificate or qualification materials, no inspection and quarantine access, sensory inspection is unqualified, check out the animal disease, parasites, cadmium exceeds bid. Among them, the goods certificate is not in the first place, there are 30 batches. In addition, some food products were found to be mildew, beyond the shelf life, peroxide value exceeded the standard, water, acid value exceeded the standard, pollution and corruption.
The reasons for the unqualification are mainly in the unqualified label, inconsistent with the goods certificate, the detection of animal epidemics, the use of food additives, the failure to provide certificates or qualified certification materials as required, and the failure to obtain inspection and quarantine access. There are also a small number of food packaging unqualified, moldy products, sensory inspection unqualified, containing animal and plant ingredients not approved by inspection and quarantine access, detected parasites, microbial pollution, heavy metal pollution and other problems. In addition, very few of the food has been found to exceed the shelf life, contain impurities, dirty corruption, mycotoxin pollution and other problems.
Among them, the top one reaon of non-conformity of goods certificatet. It is mentioned in the Measures of the People's Republic of China for the Administration of import and Export Food Safety that the customs shall carry out on-site inspection of imported food according to the needs of supervision and management. The contents of on-site inspection include: container number, seal number, identification content on internal and external packaging, and whether the actual condition of the goods is consistent with the declaration information and attached documents.
In addition to food, another batch of cosmetics was not allowed to enter China. Boric acid and borate components were detected in a Firming Rejuvenating Essence from South Korea.
It is reported that the non-entry food and cosmetics have been returned or destroyed at the port in accordance with the law.
